Just the other day my kids and I were talking about life y hablamos de muchas cosas.
Then one of them asked me an interesting question,¨papa, who´s the greatest person that you´ve ever known?
I said, ¨now that´s a tall order cuz I´ve known a few good and honest people en esta vida.
But without un pelo de hesitación that one would have to be the one you call abuelo.
His story starts back in a little family farm on a sunny morning in May 1943.
Tu abuelo was born during some difficult times, era una vida muy diferente de la que tenemos hoy.
A veces la finca gave plenty for the family other times things got pretty lean.
Me contó de los días he walked to school descalzo to save the only pair of shoes he had as a boy.

He was my superman and he could do anything better than anybody can. We would spend hours together playing and laughin', exploring the family farm back home. He wasn´t a famous rock star, a great athlete or fancy politician. Era mi padre, mi mejor amigo and without any doubt the greatest person…..I´ve ever known.
Verso II:
Honesto as the day is long he loved to work the farm and became an independent man.
Era un trabajador who always worked hard and gave everything he did his best.
Strong as an ox, never quick to fight, but not afraid if he had to take a stand.
When the harvest was on he´d work día y noche without even takin' a rest.
Muchas veces he would take me out on the tractor and that´s where I learned how to drive.
Countless evenings we´d watch the sunset sharing the love of a father and son.
Me enseñó how to live, love and laugh and in my work to always take pride.
He said hay que siempre dream big and deeper…to find happiness when the day is done.

You know el tiempo sigue marchando and some things simply have to change.
El trabajo and the long hours had the natural effect on my superman.
As the grey hair and wrinkles came he still remained stronger than men half his age.
El fue siempre mi inspiración y modelo for me as I became a man.
I was there on that fateful day when he said goodbye y se fue al paraíso.
Tenerlo en mis brazos when he took his last breath was just more than I could stand.
I felt tan perdido llorando por días didn´t understand why he had to go
Pero ahora yo se que tengo un angel who continues to guide me to be a better man…
